FARGO—A pizza chain with about 75 restaurants around the country is looking to open in North Dakota.

Toppers Pizza, headquartered in Whitewater, Wis., has named North Dakota as an expansion state after opening three stores in South Dakota, Chief Development Officer David Biederman said.

The chain has two restaurants in Sioux Falls and one in Brookings, with another Sioux Falls eatery opening soon.

"North Dakota becomes an obvious place where we'd like to go, and obviously Fargo is a great area," he said.

Biederman said the carryout and delivery pizza place would most likely open several locations in North Dakota, with restaurants opening as soon as 2018. But the chain first needs to find an independent operator to become a franchisee for the state, he said.
