New York Life agent earns honor

New York Life agent Jared Maher has been named a member of the 2017 President's Council of New York Life. Members rank in the top 5 percent of New York Life's force of 12,000 licensed agents.

Maher has been employed with New York Life since 2001, and is associated with New York Life's office in Fargo. He also owns Maher Financial Group.

Four local attorneys make Super Lawyer list

Greg Selbo, William Harrie, Mark Hanson and Ryan McCamy, all from the Nilles Law Firm in Fargo, were selected for inclusion in the 2017 list of Super Lawyers.

The Great Plains Super Lawyers list includes 5 percent of all lawyers from Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Hanson has been a Super Lawyer since 2007, focusing on business and civil litigation. Harrie has been on the list since 2011 in the area of civil litigation - defense. Selbo has been on the list under the business and corporate law category since 2011.

MyCamy has also been listed as a rising star since 2016 in the area of civil litigation, construction litigation and business litigation.

Super Lawyers is a rating for lawyers who have gained peer recognition and professional achievement. Rising star members must be under 40, or in practice for less than ten years. Selections for each list are comprised of peer nominations and evaluations and independent research.

Two join suicide prevention board

Catrina Lewis and Barbara Hanson have joined the board of directors for the North Dakota Chapter of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Lewis, who lost her daughter to suicide in 2012, has worked for over 10 years at West Fargo Public Schools in special education. She currently provides adult foster care in her home.

Hanson has 37 years experience as a nurse. For the last three years, she has served as faith community nurse liaison for Sanford Health System.

Allstate owner earns recognition

Local Allstate agency owner Fred Hage was recently recognized as one of the top Allstate agencies in the nation. Allstate Insurance Company is recognizing Hage and the Fred Hage Agency for upholding the highest standards of excellence and performance.

Hage's agency has achieved the Circle of Champions and Honor Ring awards based on the agency's 2016 achievements. The Circle of Champions distinction is only awarded to the top 6 percent of the nations agency owners. This is the second consecutive year Hage's agency has earned this achievement.

Hage has also been designated as an Allstate Premier Agency for 2017. This distinction is given to Allstate agency owners that have demonstrated excellence in delivering accessible, knowledgeable and personal customer experience while achieving great business results.

Park Co. Realtors earn top distinctions

Park Co. Realtors, as well as three Realtors with the company, have earned high rankings with REAL Trends.

The company was named the No. 1 real estate company in North Dakota by REAL Trends, a consulting and communications company that specializes in residential brokerage and housing industries.

Park Co. Realtors Diane Nordhougen, Jenny Schuster and Kari Myhre were named some of America's most productive sales associates as a part of REAL Trends America's Best Real Estate Agents. This is a newly-issued ranking report sponsored by Zillow Group and produced by REAL Trends. Nordhougen, Schuster and Myhre are now members of the "America's Best Real Estate Agents" for the state of North Dakota.

Spitfire Bar and Grill wins award

The competition barbecue team from Spitfire Bar and Grill was named the reserve grand champion at the Nebraska BBQ Championship in Omaha. The team, led by Chief Cook Tim Olson, competed against 53 other teams from around the country in the Kansas City Barbecue Society contest. Spitfire was awarded first place in the rib category. The team also placed fourth in pork and ninth in chicken.

Gjesdahl named super lawyer

Mike Gjesdahl has been named a 2017 Super Lawyer. Gjesdahl chairs the North Dakota Collaborative Divorce Group.

The annual Great Plains Super Lawyer List is a rating service of outstanding lawyers who have obtained peer recognition and demonstrated professional excellence and achievement. The selection process is based upon independent research and peer nomination and evaluations.

ND afterschool lead chosen for fellowship

Becky Mueller, an afterschool network lead in North Dakota, was recently selected to join the White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellowship. Sixteen people nationwide in the field of afterschool and expanded learning were chosen to take part in this 10-month program.

The program allows fellows to study afterschool and expanded learning policy and develop and implement state-level policy projects in partnership with their statewide afterschool networks and the national Afterschool Alliance.

Ihry receives NDSHAPE award

Keely Ihry, the health and wellness coordinator for South East Education Cooperative, received the North Dakota Society of Health and Physical Educators Exemplary Program Award at the

organization's state conference earlier this month. The award is given to individuals for their work done in a program that has helped contribute to the fields of health and physical education.

Areas of review include inclusion of service learning projects, outcomes expected for students and teachers, professional development opportunities, and research and philanthropy involvement.

 Maring Williams Law Office recognized by Chambers

Chambers USA 2017 has recognized Maring Williams Law Office as a ranked firm in the category of litigation:general commercial-North Dakota.

The Chambers USA noted that the firm is a dedicated civil litigation group with noteworthy experience in personal injury and wrongful death claims.

Daniel Dunn has been recognized in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death and product liability. David Maring has been recognized for his experience in complex issues including construction accidents, personal injury, and business disputes. Duane Lillehaug has been praised for his broad civil litigation practice including experience in product liability and personal injury issues. Michael Williams has been recognized for his strengths in wrongful death litigation and personal injury.

Sharbono becomes licensed professional counselor

Kristin Sharbono, a counselor with The Village Family Service Center, has earned designation as a licensed professional counselor in North Dakota.

Sharbono graduated from North Dakota State University with a master's degree in counseling. She started with The Village as a licensed associate professional counselor, working as an in-home family therapist. She is now a counselor for The Village's Intensive Outpatient Program.
