ND woman who fled police identified after fatal crash

CAVALIER, N.D. — A 45-year-old woman who died after fleeing police on Saturday, April 28, has been identified as Dena M. Peterson of Cavalier, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.

Peterson was involved in a high-speed chase in a 2010 Kia Soul SUV around 8 p.m. when the vehicle drove into a ditch, struck a field approach and rolled east of Cavalier. Peterson was not wearing a seat belt and died at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

The pursuit began after a report the vehicle had nearly rear-ended another motorist and was swerving all over the road.
