Mueller earns win No. 600 as Bison softball sweeps doubleheader

FARGO—Jacquelyn Sertic and KK Leddy threw back-to-back shutouts to lead North Dakota State to a doubleheader sweep against Western Illinois on Saturday in Summit League softball at the Ellig Sports Complex. The Bison earned 3-0 victories in both games before 260 fans.

The Bison (29-17, 9-3 SL) moved into first place in the conference standings as head coach Darren Mueller earned carer win No. 600.

Western Illinois (17-29, 9-5) and NDSU play at 11 a.m. Sunday to close out the three-game series. The Bison need to win to clinch the top seed in the Summit tournament, which starts Wednesday, May 9, at Ellig Sports Complex.

Sertic (21-9) allowed two hits in seven innings to earn the victory in Game 1. She struck out 13 batters and walked two. Vanessa Anderson provided the offense with a three-run home run.

In the second game, Leddy also allowed two hits in seven innings to earn the victory and give Mueller 600 for his career. Leddy (7-7) struck out four and walked one. Dani Renner came off the bench to deliver a two-run double in the second inning.
