FARGO -- A garage fire has been reported in South Fargo on Monday evening. Crews responded to the 1700 block of 25th Avenue South. WDAY News will keep you updated as we learn more.
HOPE -- Many people are hurt after a vehicle crash 3 miles west of Hope. The crash happened at 2:08 PM Sunday afternoon. A 2015 Toyota Rav 4, carrying Nicholas Pietron and Lindsey Pietron, was driving North on Highway 32. The Toyota was then hit on the passenger side by a 1997 Ford F-150 driven by an unidentified 17 year old; also carrying an unidentified 15 and 10 year old. After the impact, the Ford continued into the ditch on the North East side of the intersection. The driver of the Ford pickup was taken by life flight to the Sanford in Fargo.
BRAINERD -- An elderly man has died Saturday after injuries sustained in a single-person crash. The 83-year old was driving south on Highway 47 when his 2007 Ford Explorer went off-road and struck a tree. WDAY will update the story as we learn more.
MAPLETON -- A trial is scheduled to begin Tuesday for the man charged in a 2015 Mapleton gas station sexual assault. 36 year old Abdulrahman Ali is charged with Gross Sexual Imposition, Kidnapping and two counts of Terrorizing. He's accused of dragging a woman into a bathroom while she was working at Gordy's Travel Plaza. Court records say he told her she was his wife forced her to take off her clothes before trying to have sex with her. Ali waived his right to a jury trial, so a judge will decide the case instead.
WINGER, Minn. - The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 25-year-old man. The sheriff's office said they received a report that the man, Dylan Wang of Winger, was found dead Sunday, June 11. The name of the man or details regarding a cause of death are not being released at this time.
WEST FARGO - A man is dead following a domestic dispute that occurred Saturday night, June 10in West Fargo. Police responded to a call at 1804 10th St. W. at 7:52 p.m. and arrived to find Darla Balster, 45, on the sidewalk with head injuries. Balster told police that her fiance, 47-year-old Grant Poyner, was still in the home. The man did not respond to police, so Balster let them into the home. They found Poyner inside with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Balster was taken to the hospital for treatment. West Fargo Police are continuing to investigate.
WAHPETON -- An ATV accident on June 9th at 9:23 PM has killed a man. 48 year old John Hanson of Wahpeton was driving an ATV on Richland County Road 8 when he veered off the roadway. The vehicle overturned several times and Hanson was eventually thrown from the ATV. Hanson was taken to St. Francis Medical Center and then to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. Due to the severity of the injuries sustained in the crash he died on June 10th at Sanford. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. Hanson wasn't wearing a helmet.
GRAND FORKS -- At 11:06 AM on Sunday Grand Forks police officers responded to a car accident between two vehicles in the 2300 Block of South Washington Street. Reports say that a 2001 Ford F-150 was traveling south on Washington Street when it hit a 2010 Chrysler minivan that was waiting to turn east onto 24th Avenue South. The impact from the F-150 caused the minivan to go through the intersection. The male driver of the F-150 was taken to Altru medical for injury evaluation and the minivan occupants were evaluated but not taken to the hospital.
FARGO -- Fire crews responded to a fire on a balcony on the 2nd floor of an apartment building this morning in south Fargo. The fire was first reported at 8:10 AM at 2709 15th Street South in Fargo. When they arrived the fire had spread to the third floor and attic of the building. Fire fighters continued to supress the fire and search for any occupants. Multiple occupants within the building were found and removed to safety. There were no major injuries to any occupants and nobody was taken to the hospital.
OTTER TAIL COUNTY, MINN. -- A single-vehicle rollover on Highway 59 in Otter Tail County has sent one person to the hospital. The vehicle was a Honda Accord that was traveling north on Highway 59 when it went off the road and landed upside down on a driveway. The injuries the driver sustained were non-life threatening. Initial reports came in at 12:06 PM on Saturday. WDAY News will keep you updated as we learn more.
