SOUTH FARGO—A scary moment for a family in South Fargo Monday night. Police say while a mom's back was turned, her child climbed the balcony railing of their a third story apartment, and fell. The incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. at 1102 22nd street. The child was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be ok. Safety expects say as temperatures begin to warm up, its important to double check your windows and doors.
FARGO—As if going viral isn't enough, a Fargo 5 year old is headed back to school with even more bragging rights; an appearance on National TV. It all started with one video and the question; how many licks does it take to get to the middle of a Tootsie pop? The video which has racked up more than 7 million views and landed Duncan from Clara Barton an interview on the Steve Harvey show. Tootsie Roll industries saw the video too and Steve Harvey surprised Duncan with a ton of Tootsie Pops to bring back to Fargo. Steve Harvey airs at 3:00 p.m. on WDAY'z X-TRA.
BISMARCK—You can chalk this one up to "only in North Dakota"... Dalton Martian of Bismarck caught the video above of what looks like a garbage truck, but you could say it's on the struggle bus instead. The big rig couldn't make it up a small hill on the Bismarck State Campus and ended up skidding down sideways. Dalton says no one was hurt.
NEWEST UPDATE: WEST FARGO -- After closing down streets for more than four hours Saturday evening, West Fargo Police say they have now detained a suicidal man. Officers closed down an area around 4:00 p.m. Saturday off of Center Street from Pinewood Boulevard to 7th Avenue NE. Assistant Chief Jerry Boyer said officers responded to man, inside a home with a possible weapon.
FARGO -- Chick-fil-A West Acres announced through its Twitter page Thursday that the Fargo location will open on January 18, 2018. Chick-fil-A will be opening its doors at the 4100 13th Avenue South location near the West Acres Mall. TGI Fridays used to stand in Chick-fil-A's spot before closing in 2015 and being demolished on August 1, 2017.
OTTER TAIL COUNTY, MINN. -- Two people are in the hospital after rolling a vehicle on Interstate 94 early Sunday morning in Otter Tail County.
FARGO -- A south Fargo man has been arrested in connection with a Saturday stolen rental vehicle and robbery, according to the Fargo Police Department.
HANKINSON—Fire crews are monitoring a huge grass fire that burned nearly three square miles just south of Hankinson. Richland County's Emergency Manager Brett Lambrecht says it's contained but is expected to burn throughout the night. Crews got the call about 2:00 Wednesday afternoon. Seven fire departments have spent the day battling flames with wicked winds. The strongest wind gusts were in SE North Dakota including 55 miles an hour at Gwinner. The winds and cat-tails fueled the fire, sending flames 10-12 feet high.
WEST FARGO - A three-car pile in West Fargo has left three women hospitalized from their injuries.
MENAHGA, Minn. -- Names have been released in the murder-suicide shooting that took place in Menahga early Monday morning. Michael Callahan, 67 and Carl Albin, 82, both of Menahga, were identified as the two male individuals found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds inside the Oak Grove NE residence, according to the Wadena County Sheriff's Office press release.
